Why put in outdoor lighting?

Apart from the obvious, like not tripping over the dog and falling headfirst into the swimming pool, outdoor lighting has many advantages. Especially if it forms part of a well-designed garden landscape. Outdoor lighting gives a garden interesting angles and accents, colours and shapes, mood and shadows. You can use lighting to highlight a pond, a feature tree or garden bed, outline and light the driveway, a pathway, the edge and mood of your entertainment area or light up the swimming pool. Beautiful garden lighting means that your garden becomes another outdoor room not only during the day but also at night. Lighting also provides a security feature.

Brightness, colour and shape are an important part of your light choice and each light has its own specific properties. Halogen and LED are versatile and adaptable. LEDs are economic, efficient and cool to the touch. They are great for security. If you want a warm glow then Halogen is a good choice.

Richard Robertson is licenced with the Victorian Building Authority for structural landscaping, a member of the Professional Industry body ‘Landscaping Victoria’, a Master Builder’s Master Tradesman, Richard Robertson is also currently (May 2019) the only Southern Peninsula Landscaper to be fully Licenced and Registered by the Victorian Building Authority for structural landscaping as a DBL (Domestic Builder Limited).
